Olga is a volunteer with our organization, originally from Donetsk.
Together with the guys, she went on a mission to Donetsk Oblast to deliver the cargo to our military.
It was the first time in nine years that Olya visited her native land.
Her impressions of the trip are hard to put into words.
‘Yes, I have not been there for nine years. It was very sensual because I knew all those places and roads. I remember these places ‘intact,’ with a lot of destruction and traces of the ‘Russian world.’ It is very sad to see. There are almost no civilians. 80% of the cars are military. But despite the destruction, Ukraine is everywhere, Ukrainian flags are everywhere, even among the destroyed buildings and traces of war.’
‘…in Kramatorsk, coffee shops are open, the city is clean, people are swimming on the beaches,’ she said.
‘These simple joys of life – open cafes, clean streets, and people swimming on the beaches – are symbols of resilience!’ – Olya doesn’t hide the fact that seeing her home after all these years was an extremely emotional experience for her.
This trip emphasised that our unity is the key to Victory and that even in the darkest times, there is always room for hope and rebirth.
