SupportUkrainian children are a generation that, despite the challenges of war, has not lost faith in kindness and the dream of a better future. We asked them the question: What do they see as the modern country of their dreams? In response, we received hundreds of sincere stories and drawings that impress with their depth and belief in something better.
Children dream of a Ukraine where there is no indifference, and where kindness and care prevail. It is a country where even homeless animals will find their home. “We will be able to solve the problem of homeless cats, and people will raise their mood through communication with the fluffy ones,” writes Snizhana, who dreams of a “Cat café.” Others imagine a future where technologies work for the benefit of people and animals, helping animal patrols and making everyday life easier.
A special place in children’s dreams is occupied by caring for those who have it hard. Children want to see hospitals where treatment is not scary, comfortable, and warm. Where doctors are dressed in costumes of favorite cartoon characters, and smiles become part of the therapy. “I want such hospitals to exist, because my younger brother is being treated for cancer, and my family knows well how difficult it is,” shares one of the girls, demonstrating childlike empathy and responsibility.
Children strive for communication, friendship, and development. They draw cafés, hubs, and playlands — places where new ideas and strong communities are born. Someone dreams of a school swimming pool, because the Azov Sea, which previously brought joy, is temporarily inaccessible. “Swimming is joy and healing,” noted the young dreamer.
Reading these stories, we realize that children are not just fantasizing — they are pointing us the way to a better future. Their dreams, although different, are united by faith in kindness, care, and justice. Our task is to hear these voices, implement their ideas, and build a country worthy of their dreams.
