50 Kyiv Residents Completed Free First Aid Training

After a difficult and sleepless night in Kyiv, we did not know how many people would find the strength to attend the training as planned. Yet despite the exhaustion and ongoing attacks, 50 participants came to the Stop the Bleed first-aid training on Saturday.

For us, this is yet another reminder that Ukrainians remain strong, responsible, and committed to gaining knowledge that can save lives.

During the training, participants practiced essential hands-on skills, including:

  • controlling life-threatening bleeding;
  • applying tourniquets correctly;
  • wound packing;
  • using pressure dressings.

Participants also had the opportunity to ask instructors questions and work through practical scenarios in which taking the right action during the first few minutes can make all the difference.

One of the key messages we aim to convey during these trainings is that saving a life in the event of severe bleeding is not something only a medical professional can do. It can be done by someone who happens to be nearby and, in some cases, even by the injured person themselves.

Practical first-aid skills make communities stronger and more resilient. We sincerely hope that participants will never have to use these skills in a real-life emergency, but we are convinced that it is always better to be prepared in advance.

We thank our partners – the Veterans Corps and the Kyiv City Center for National Resistance Training – for their cooperation and assistance in organizing the training.

Thank you to our instructors for their professionalism, and to every participant for caring enough to learn and be prepared to help others.

As part of the MedPatriot educational project, the NGO “Patriot” continues to provide free first-aid training for civilians.

The more people who know how to act in a critical situation, the greater the chance that, when the moment comes, someone’s life can be saved.
