SupportThe “Patriot” shelter in Zaporizhzhia continues to operate – a place that for dozens of people has become not simply temporary accommodation, but an opportunity to have a safe space and a roof over their heads.
It is home to people who were forced to leave their homes because of the war and occupation: elderly people, people with disabilities, families with children, and those who currently have nowhere to return to.
For many shelter residents, temporary accommodation has become long-term. Several years have now passed since the beginning of the full-scale war, but their future remains uncertain. Despite the difficult circumstances, people continue to live, support one another, find the strength to move forward, and hold on to hope.
The “Patriot” shelter opened its doors in 2023 thanks to the joint efforts of NGO All-Ukrainian Association “Patriot”, LifeLine Ukraine Charitable Foundation, and the organization of Ukrainians in Japan, Kraiany.
Today, together with the LifeLine Ukraine Charitable Foundation, we continue to support the shelter’s residents – helping provide people with essential items, creating comfortable living conditions, and preserving this space for those who need it most.
Behind every person who finds shelter here is their own story of loss, forced displacement, and the struggle for an opportunity to start life anew. That is why there must be people nearby who are ready to provide support not only with words, but also through concrete action.
As long as the war continues, places like this remain vital. Because behind every story is a person who needs safety, care, and the feeling that they have not been left alone.
