Looking at these photographs, the first things you notice are the smiles, femininity, and inner strength.
Yet behind every photograph lies a different reality – military service, responsibility, exhaustion, risk, and the daily struggle.
These images show Ukrainian women who are defending the country today. They command military units, evacuate the wounded, operate unmanned systems, work with military equipment, plan operations, and carry out combat missions alongside men.
They are strong, professional, and resilient. At the same time, they remain women who, like every person, need attention, support, and care.
That is why the “For Her” project was created – one of the warmest areas of our work, dedicated to supporting Ukraine’s women defenders.
When we receive feedback from women serving in the military, it becomes clear just how important this support is:
“A care package was delivered to my position. It was completely unexpected and incredibly heartwarming.”
“By the end of my third year of service, my morale was almost at zero. Gestures like this really lift your spirits.”
“Your care means so much to us.”
These words show that this is about much more than material items. It is about feeling supported, knowing that someone remembers you and values what you do.
Women have always been those who create, sustain, and preserve life. Today, many of them are forced to defend it with weapons in their hands, yet their role in Ukraine’s future remains unchanged.
Supporting women defenders is not only about supporting military personnel – it is also an investment in the future of the country.
Today, the “For Her” project continues its work. We support women serving in the military, helping them feel cared for, while also developing initiatives focused on women’s health, psychological and physical recovery, and preparation for their future reintegration after completing their service.
We are currently running an open fundraising campaign for tactical cosmetic pouches and care box supplies for women defenders.
We sincerely thank all the partners, volunteers, donors, and friends of the project who have already joined this initiative.
